Extending Activities
The HDSAA has successfully secured over £10,000 of funding to develop new and exciting activities for young people to get active. A whole range of sessions will be delivered at schools, clubs and leisure centres across the District. School Club Links
PE & School Sports Club Link funding has enabled the HDSAA, Blaby & Harborough SSP, Harborough District Council and local clubs to promote and develop links between local schools and clubs.
Projects
Market Harborough Cricket Club and the Leicestershire & Rutland County Cricket Board delivered sessions at four primary schools in the Market Harborough area. A festival for around 80 children took place and it is hoped that those who have taken part will continue to play cricket with the club. An academy for students at Welland Park College and Kibworth High School is providing an opportunities for keen cricket players to develop their skills with coaching at Robert Smyth School with links to Market Harborough Cricket Club.
Past Projects
In 2006 / 07 projects were completed with Harborough Town FC and primary schools in the Market Harborough area, Lutterworth Ladies Hockey Club and primary schools in the Lutterworth area and Harborough Swords Fencing Club with Kibworth and Lutterworth High Schools. Following the projects a number of young people are now regularly taking part in sport with the clubs.
